Hi there! I’m Zoey, I run a lifestyle blog called Zoey-valuated. Feel free to pop over and take a look if you’d like! 🙂 Dawn and I are admins for the Facebook group called Bloggers R Us. We thought it would be fun to do guest posts for each other. I’m super stoked to be here! Thus, onto my post.
It’s definitely official, folks, spring has sprung! What a lovely time of year. This new season often makes people feel like they’re getting a clean slate, a chance for a fresh start. This is where spring cleaning comes into play. As this seems like a pretty big task, I thought a few little tips and tricks might help you guys out!
Materials – So, this is a big thing to do, there will be various steps, stages, challenges, victories, etc. No, definitely not saying this to scare you. I will even list a few ways to make this all less scary for you. But first, it’s super important that you have everything you need. There’s nothing worse than being knee-deep in cleaning and on a roll, when you suddenly realize you don’t have the right cleaning spray or sponge for what you’re about to do. To avoid this hassle, make yourself a checklist beforehand of all the materials you’ll need.
The breakdown – Now that you’ve got everything you need, the next step is to make a list of the things that need to get done. Wanna start making this a little less scary? Break this list down into smaller groups… one or two things at a time, perhaps?
Divided breakdown – Want to make it even less intimating? You could ask each person who lives in your house to pitch in! The more the merrier, right?
De-messifying – Getting rid of any clutter is definitely most helpful. Once all the mess is gone, it’s much easier to see what’s underneath. Re-familiarize yourself with the colour of your floor 🙂
Working your way down – There’s seriously nothing worse then finally getting that table squeaky clean, only to have dust fall onto it when you’re cleaning the windows. To avoid this predicament, start at the top and work your way down.
Rewards – This one is a personal favourite of mine! Dreading a specific task or finding it extra hard to get started? Figure out a way to reward yourself once it’s done! Incentives work wonders!
Now, here is a little bonus idea for you guys!
The ‘Zen’ approach – So, this is a personal little trick that I sometimes use when there’s a lot of cleaning to do. More specifically, my partner and I came up with it together… we call it ‘Zen’ because it’s our two names put together. Anyways, this is how it works: write each cleaning task down on a separate piece of paper and put them all in a hat/bag. Every day, you can pull out a piece of paper to pick your daily task. Makes it fun and productive, at the same time!
